Construction and evolutions
The employers Confederation of UGIR was founded on January 27th, 1903, in Bucharest, with the purpose to contribute to the economic development and modernization of the society.
In short time, UGIR became one of the most important employers organization in Europe, with a remarkable institutional construction, a complex of economic, financial, banking and business power, acting in the interest of the Romanian industry and domestic capital.
The Costinescu Custom Code, the Law for Supporting Industry, the Trade Consortium, the Industrial Credit, the Sinaia Club - as an analysis and prognosis organism - are just a few of the successes of one of the most important institution of the interwar Romania, among a series of other significant historical bench-marks.
The companies members of the UGIR that have continued their activity in time, decided in November 1993, to re-take the activity of the historical UGIR (dissolved by the communist authorities in1948) under the name of UGIR-1903. |
